When paying for services or materials, do nonprofits pay state sales tax?
This is a question for state law in each state that has a sales tax. Not all nonprofits are charities (See Ready Reference Page: “What Do We Mean When We Say Nonprofit?”), and not all organizations that are federally recognized as charities under Section 501(c)(3) are recognized as charities in all states.
